Metally Disabled Adult Suffers Emotional Trauma From Inappropriate Touching
26/12/10 07:07 Filed in: Verdicts & Settlements
Case Title: Confidential
A day training facility that provides training to mentally disabled adults, failed to adequately supervise its students, which resulted in an unauthorized, and inappropriate touching and physical contact of a mentally disabled adult, by another student who is also mentally disabled.
This case raised serious issues and concerns that every parent of a mentally disabled child or even adult faces, because of the communication barrier between a mentally disabled individual, and his or her family members. It is therefore critical that a parent keeps an open communication channel with his or her mentally disable child, and monitor their activity in school, and ensure that the school has adequate supervision, and management of their facility.
Settlement reached: $63,000.
